Quartermasters is a community of artisan designer-makers based in Birmingham who run workshops, events and exhibitions to promote their work and share their skills. We went along to their latest exhibition – part of the first-ever Birmingham Design Festival – to take a look at some of their amazing products and designs…
The Holodeck is a printmaking and bookbinding workshop specialising in risograph, letterpress, bookbinding, marbling and etching, using traditional techniques to create mind-blowing designs.
Andrew makes hand-painted, bespoke lettering and signs for a variety of purposes, using glass, enamel paint, copper and gold leaf to create beautiful typography with a traditional yet contemporary feel.
Paper Amy recreates everyday items in tiny, intricate paper sculptures – a skill known as paper illustration. We love how she turns even the most mediocre objects into elaborate, miniature works of art.

The Dual Works specialises in bespoke design, creating one-off products, furniture, interiors and artworks from their studio in the Jewellery Quarter.
Sparrow + Wolf
Sparrow + Wolf is a home furnishing and stationery studio run by Cherie Gregory. She combines great design, quality products and fun illustrations to create quirky cushions, pins, notebooks and much more.
Joe is a maker of handmade ceramics, mostly working with wheel-thrown stoneware. Local commissions include Harborne Kitchen and Caffiened.
