This month we caught up with Michelin starred chef, Adam Stokes, about his latest venture, The Oyster Club.
Faber first started working with renowned Birmingham based chef, Adam Stokes, back in 2015 - designing his original pop-up concept, and his now signature, Michelin starred restaurant, Adam’s.
His latest venture, situated prominently on Temple Street, offers a high-end, neighbourhood-style eatery and is headed up by Rosanna Moseley, a long-standing member of the Adam’s team and Master Chef’s finalist.
"We wanted to create a ‘club’ where diners can meet up regularly with friends in a relaxed atmosphere but with that added touch of luxury."
The husband and wife team, Adam and Natasha, embarked on this new project with a clear vision of oysters being shucked at the bar in front of customers - wanting to create a high-end casual and interactive dining concept.
Entrenched in the design brief was the philosophy of ‘a club’ - being able to regularly dine with friends in a relaxed environment. Facilitating this is the huge, curved oyster bar which is reserved solely for walk-in customers.
Results: Laid-back, stylish, welcoming...
The design hints at the colours, textures and shapes within the sea without being too literal.
Patterns and textures echo undulating sand beds, rippling water and the scales of fish and bespoke pendants and fixed lighting take inspiration from oyster pearls and yacht rigging.
Deep navy is teamed with warm brass to give a rich, premium feel - all softened with a complementing palette of muted pearl pinks and pale blues.
Seating is relaxed but luxurious. Deep and curved, both the fixed seating and swivel stools invite customers into shell-like structures made from sumptuous velvets and soft leather.
Reeded glass panels, divide the space between the bar and restaurant spaces while mirrors feature throughout the design to create light increased sense of space.
