The Grand, York has announced that it will launch a new fine dining restaurant called Legacy this summer.
The Grand, which is the only five-star hotel in York, will open Legacy as a 26-cover restaurant serving a multi-course tasting menu.
The restaurant’s interiors have been designed by Faber and the setting is described as bold yet elegant, featuring blueprint murals, oak panelling, sculptural lighting, industrial ironwork and crisp colour contrasts.
Guests will be welcomed in The White Rose Lounge to enjoy an arrival cocktail and canapes before being invited into the restaurant for a personal introduction from the chef, who will give an overview of the dishes.
As well as a tasting menu, Legacy offers a wine pairing crafted by the in-house sommelier.
Heading up the new Legacy restaurant is Head Chef Ahmed Abdalla.
He commented: “I am incredibly excited about crafting a truly unique fine-dining experience at Legacy by immersing different elements of the journey for guests.
“This must be a destination offering more than just great food – of course this will be paramount, but I want to really elevate the guest experience from start to finish. I look forward to enhancing The Grand’s renowned traditional offering by utilising a modern approach to British cuisine.”
Abdalla’s professional background includes York restaurant, Skosh, Yorebridge House in The Dales and stages at Restaurant Hywel Jones – Lucknam Park and Whatley Manor’s restaurant – The Dining Room.
