Bocuse D'Or Platter

The Challenge

The Bocuse d’Or is the world’s most prestigious culinary competition, where top chefs from over sixty countries gather to compete for the coveted title at the biannual world final in Lyon, France. In recent years, design has taken on a more prominent role, with teams commissioning bespoke platters and tableware to elevate their presentation.

In 2019, Faber was invited to join Team UK as official tableware designers—tasked with helping the UK team make a lasting impression on the global culinary stage.

The Solution

Over a span of four years, we designed three bespoke platters, each one rooted in the unique ethos of the competing chef and the broader ambition of the team: to reflect the culinary heritage and values of the UK.

Every platter combined multiple materials—including silver, stainless steel, brass, and solid surface composites—and was carefully crafted to strike a balance between storytelling and subtlety. The goal: to elevate the dish without overshadowing it.

Each design was visualised with the final dishes in place—because, for us, the design was never complete until the food was on the platter.
