Feather Light, Finch

The Challenge

Finch is a compact wine bar in Brixton, South London—just 3.5 metres in length, width, and height. With wine storage claiming every inch of wall space, the opportunity to make a design statement lay in the one surface still untouched: the ceiling.

We set out to transform this limitation into a moment of drama—creating a ceiling feature that defies the confines of the room and invites guests to look up in wonder.

The Solution

A circular trompe l'oeil mural forms the foundation of the ceiling feature, setting the stage for a delicate cascade of swirling feathers, each lit invisibly from below by a suspended circular uplighter.

Every feather is unique—laser-cut and then hand-finished to give it a distinctive form and movement. The custom ceiling artwork was created by the Faber branding team, bringing an ethereal touch to an otherwise tightly constrained space.
