Chain Waves, Market House
The Challenge
As part of a major refurbishment, Faber was brought in to help transform a long-neglected restaurant space into Market House—a vibrant Asian-inspired café, bar, restaurant, and cookery school in the heart of Cambridge.
Our brief included designing and making a bespoke ceiling feature for the first-floor dining room, one that would bring visual cohesion to the space and contribute to the storytelling behind the venue’s new identity.
The Solution
We designed a sculptural wave-form ceiling feature using suspended brass chains, stretched in gentle arcs across the room. The flowing form links the two opposing walls, each of which features a mural depicting an ancient Chinese fable.
The ceiling installation acts as a visual bridge—symbolically and physically connecting both sides of the narrative—bringing a sense of motion, elegance, and meaning to the space.
