Branding, graphics and uniform design for a neighbourhood cafe and restaurant
“An informal and approachable brand for a new plant-based restaurant in Clapham”
Folde is a new plant-based restaurant in Clapham, South London. Envisioned as a neighbourhood eatery serving great food in relaxed surroundings, the fact that it is entirely plant-based is secondary to this. Faber were appointed to carry out a naming exercise and develop the brand identity.
The name Folde stems from old English, meaning earth or soil. It reflects the primary nature of taking locally sourced produce to create wonderful plates of food. The aim with the brand identity is to convey informality and individuality, without making any overt references to the plant-based nature of the food.
The design is built around a hand-drawn signature mark, alongside a palette of sketch icons that can be used across the various elements of the brand. A colour palette of natural, earth-derived tones provides a simple yet adaptable identity system.
